I was privileged to see Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets quite a few times before the passing of their legendary vocalist Sam Myers in July of 2006. Anson, a Texas guitar legend in his own rights, collectively recorded a number of stellar albums with Sam and the band.. It was a pleasure to watch them work seamlessly at various clubs together as Sam added his trademark vocals and harp on most of the tracks. Sam who suffered with Diabetes was always talkative and cordial at the clubs between sets. Anson's guitar work is rapid and technical and a pleasure to behold live. In the meantime, word of the street is that Anson is in the recording studios planning to release a new solo effort. Can't wait to give it a listen.
