Damon Fowler Review

     Damon Fowler brought live music back to Sanford Florida last Saturday night. "The Man" and his trio of so much more than a blues band, absolutely blew the doors off the Alley (located just outside of Orlando).
     "Man it's like a desert up here!" Fowler laments, tongue in cheek after ripping half a dozen tunes off the grid. It's January. It's cold outside, but "Jesus! It's hot in this place!".
     "Whatchoo' drinkin' man?" some pleased patrons packed like sardines in a tin, yell out.
     "Yeah...uh, uhmmm...if I had my choice, triple Jaeger!".
     The good people had no problem ensuring the office of "Fowler, Farmer and Riley" had enough booze to break the ice. . .and break the ice they did; shattered it!  Morgan and Morgan and the rest of those law office guys got nothin' on the sonic shmorgishborg on display Saturday night!
     If your've never had the privilege of having your mind blown by the "Eclectic Electric Spectacular" of Mr. Damon Fowler of Blind Pig Records, be prepared. This guy is no slouch! But bring your A-game because Lord knows, he will too.

I got hooked on the sweet soulful blues guitar of Ronnie Earl back in the eighties. Born in Queens, New York in 1953 as Ronald Horvath, he purchased a Martin Guitar in 1973, and promptly returned it the same day for a Fender Stratocaster.  Twenty years later Ronnie is in the recording studio playing guitar for Roomful Of Blues based out of Providence, RI. In 1988 he formed Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters and still going strong today. His live recordings are just as noteworthy as his studio recordings. He is one of those rare guitarists that after you hear him play you are wondering how in the world does he do that? I have yet to see Ronnie live, hoping that eventually he will make his way here.
