Three For The Road

A big thumbs up on these three live recordings. Clapton's; Live in the Seventies collection captures some of the best stuff  Slowhand has ever done on a stage. The classic; "Further On Up The Road" is worth the price of this box set, not to mention a stellar version of "Double Trouble".
Kenny Wayne Shepherd's; 10 Days Out- Blues From The Backroads recording is landmark. It includes a DVD in addition to the CD that documents the young bluesman traveling the south playing on location with some of the legends of the blues who have grown old and since then have left us.
Roy Buchanan's: Live Stock is another to add to your collection. His patented Telecaster sound was captured on this 1975 recording and is a classic. Recorded in New York City, Roy's guitar chops are at their peak especially on" Roy's Bluez" where he definitely heats up the fret board.

Having a background in photography, there are times I like to utilize available stage lighting and slow shutter speeds to capture the raw energy and emotion of the blues. The results are surprising and the  images, although not clean and crisp still express the spirit of the moment and the notes played. The following are just a few examples:

Nick Moss & The Flip Flops

The Monday night crowd at BB King's Blues Club in Orlando was transformed into a Friday night crowd when Chicago Native Rick Moss and his pack of great musicians hit the stage. A Blues Journeyman at the mere age of 40, Nick Moss has already amassed eight albums under his belt  and recording them under the Blue Bella Label, which is his own. Nick has honed his skills by being privileged to play with some of the very best in the business: Buddy Scott, Jimmy Dawkins, Jimmy Rogers and The Legendary Blues Band. It is no wonder Nick Moss has mastered the classic Chicago sound. The tight band ripped off three fabulous sets at BB Kings and had patrons moving' and shaking' all night long! Mixing tunes from their large catalog of original material with Blues classics like "Going Down" and several slow blues numbers, the band flexed their muscles on a wide range of music with great results. I am already anticipating seeing these guys the next time they come into the area!
